India won their fourth ICC U-19 World Cup title after defeating Australia by eight wickets in Mount Maunganui on Saturday. The Men in Blue bundled out the Aussies for just 216 runs, before chasing the target down in 38.5 overs.
Ishan Porel, Shiva Singh, Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Anukul Roy chipped in with two wickets each as only one Australia – Jonathan Merlo (76) managed to score a half-century.
Prithvi Shaw and Manjot Kalra got India off to a great start before the captain was bowled out by Will Sutherland for 29 runs. The in-form batsman Shubman Gill walked into bat at 71/1 and quickly strung a partnership of 60 runs.
In the 22nd over, Shubman Gill misjudged the line of the delivery off Param Uppal and was dismissed for 31 runs.
Thereafter, Manjot Kalra (101*) and Harvik Desai (47*) wrapped up the eight -wicket victory.
